The Prayer Group meets at the Church of Our Lady Of Good Counsel, on Monday from 7:30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. for its prayer group meeting and on Friday from 7.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. for intercession.

Living – proclaiming God’s word.

A large number of people come together to freely praise the Lord and be revitalized in charismatic worship, teaching and fellowship during the month of December, for an advent mission.

Special opportunities to pray for emotional, physical and spiritual healing are available four times a year.

Twice or Thrice in a year, half day services are held to help you experience the Holy Spirit in your life and to grow in your role in the church.

One day charismatic retreat & or an outreach to the parishioners and outsiders is organised, to help them deepen their relationship with the Lord and experience the reality of the Spirit in their lives.

Teaching on topics as evangelization, healing, and prayer to those who are in the ministries.

The Prayer Group has the following ministries in operation and proposes to start a few more shortly.

• SERVICE: They make the arrangement before and after the services.
• INTERCESSION: They pray for the needs of the people who bring their petition as well as the needs of the world.
• PRAYER WARRIORS: They pray for the needs of the prayer group before the service.
• HOME CELL: They pray every Thursday in the homes of the members.
• MEMORY VERSE: They proclaim the word of God to the members for the purpose of meditation and memorizing during the week.
• VISITATION: They visit the sick, aged and needy.

A proposal to

• Have a bookstore which will offer a unique selection of books to help you in your spiritual growth and to share good teaching with others.
• Circulate a monthly newsletter, which will provide you with testimonies and teaching. A calendar of events to keep you informed of all that’s happening in the prayer group.

The special object of the prayer group meetings is to pray for the outpouring of the Spirit upon ourselves and the world. It had been promised, even from Abraham, down the long line of holy prophets. Christ reminded his disciples of this great promise and to wait for its fulfillment. He had given them their great commission, to go forth into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature; but he would have them plainly understand that they could do nothing without his Spirit, and therefore they must by all means wait in Jerusalem till they had received this anointing of the Father.

The following series of questions and answers are prepared in response to the visible need for some direction and clarification regarding the prayer meeting.

• What is a Prayer Meeting?
  A "Prayer Meeting" is a weekly gathering of individuals as a family to give praise, thanks, honor to Jesus Christ and to listen to the word of God and to build up the Body of Christ.
  
  
• What are the Contents of the Sion Prayer Group Meeting?
  A gathering song, opening prayer; time of praise and worship; scripture reading; teaching; testimony; sharing (see 1 Cor. 14:26-33) and intercessory prayers. We claim the Presence of Christ in our midst, expecting Him to actually be present by His Spirit as He promised. We trust Him to take charge of us because He is the Head of the Church. We desire for Him to change each one of us as He sees fit? We agree to trust Him to bring us all into harmony with His Father and thus into heaven’s harmony with one another?
  
  
• How Long does the Prayer Meeting Last?
  Usually a minimum of 1 1/2 hours.
  
  
• Do I Have to Speak at a Prayer Meeting?
  No -- Simply come to experience the life and love of Jesus, we will find that the Holy Spirit will work in us to want to give back some of the love we have received through allowing the Holy Spirit in the use of the Gifts of the Gifts of the Spirit.
  
  
• Why is there singing at the Prayer Meetings?
  (Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:18-21)
  Singing is a way of praying, praising, and worshipping God. St. Augustine said, "He who sings, prays twice."
  
  
• Is the Prayer Meeting Like a Eucharistic Celebration?
  In a prayer meeting, Jesus is present in a different way and for a different purpose. Both the Mass and the Prayer Meeting are to bring glory to God as the Body of Christ, through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Only, we worship Him from an informal viewpoint, rather than a structured celebration.
  
  
• Why Should We Pray Together?
  The most authoritative prayer available to the body of Christ is unified prayer. Many miracles in the Bible occurred when God's people prayed together. Look at the miracle of deliverance in the book of Daniel: Nebuchadnezzar had threatened to kill the wise men (astrologers) if they did not tell him what he had dreamed and the meaning of his dream. In desperation, when Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) prayed together (Daniel 2:17-19), God revealed both the dream and its meaning to Daniel. Also consider a story in Acts: Herod imprisoned Peter, intending to execute him, but the church fervently prayed together (Acts 12:5), and an angel delivered Peter from prison. The miracle was an answer to united prayer. We find this pattern throughout the book of Acts. Shortly after Pentecost when Peter and John had faced the Sanhedrin, the church prayed, and "the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31)." Surely they were remembering Jesus' promise: "'Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on Earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst' (Matthew 18:19-20)." The most convincing proof of the power of unity in prayer is found in Acts 1:14: "These all [the eleven apostles] with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers." The result of that unified prayer was the greatest miracle in the Book of Acts--Pentecost.
  
  
• Qualification for Attending the Prayer Meeting?
  
  • All ages are welcome -- we are all children of God.
  • Prepare for the meetings, through prayer and scripture.
  • Don't be afraid, you are with friends.
